I’m making huge progress with Jon. Each session is tailored to my needs & goals, and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed without compromising on the quality of work.
Jon is also helping me unlearn some bad habits I had picked up while playing on my own, and his attention to detail is definitely making a big difference.
I’m really glad I called Jon and I absolutely recommend him – he can help you on any aspect of your playing (technique, rhythm, harmony, theory etc…) and save you a lot of time in the process.
Looking forward to my next lesson!

Jon’s practical approach to teaching how to play the guitar has the rare power to make students comfortable – and that is the focus of my experience with him as a teacher. I was completely new to even holding a guitar when I first contacted him and my level of comfort grew gradually and steadily, but almost effortlessly. There is nothing as satisfactory as the moment you manage to keep up with the rhythm of a song for the first time and you realize that YOUR hands are playing it. I am positive that without his help I would still feel insecure around an instrument I’ve always loved.
He also works with your own needs and concerns. Being a songwriter, I needed a certain type of knowledge of how to arrange different chords harmoniously and him being open-minded about individual needs made it easy for me to get the type of training I wanted. 10/10

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jon as a guitar instructor for all age groups and aptitudes.

Jon is not the first music teacher I have gone to but he is the one I have stayed with. I have been learning to play the guitar from Jon for over a year now and he has proven himself to be very knowledgeable, with a genuine passion for music. His lessons have always been enjoyable, well structured and adaptable. I was born with a tremor and as such learning to play takes me a great deal longer than the average student but Jon has always showed patience, which is something I have needed from all my teachers but do not always find.

I’ve been going to Jon for a year and a half. In that time he’s always had a lesson plan, always had a new song to go through, always listened out for minor details to make me a much better guitar player. Jon always gives you his full attention and you feel like he’s trying to get the most out of every hour you have with him.
I came to Jon with no formal training and now can easily improvise to most songs with my eyes closed. The guitar is so much more fun to me now and I feel I can take on any song.
I highly recommend getting in touch with him!

I was a self taught guitarist, and after many years of playing, I was in a real rut. Once I started lessons with Jon, he quickly identified areas to improve on, and developed a practice plan to round out my abilities. From this point on I improved far more in a couple months than I did in all my years of playing up until this point. I particularly found his focus on improvisation and music theory to be useful to really learn to play music, rather than just learn songs. When we did learn songs, it was a mix of songs specially picked to improve a certain aspect of my playing, or songs I found particularly inspiring. Jon often had to learn these by ear as there’s no tablature available online. Overall, Jon transformed me into a competent guitarist able to hold my own in a jam session with experience musicians.
